Planning of Retirement

The transition from an active career to a life of leisure can be particularly challenging for high achievers and executives, but workers at all levels often experience at least some regret once they leave the workforce. And while a return to work is always an option many retirees find it difficult to obtain a position similar to the ones they previously held. This can leave early retirees professionally as well as financially frustrated with working in low level jobs that provide minimal intellectual stimulation.

Putting off retirement for another couple of years also allows workers to do plenty of research on where they want to live once they do leave the workforce for good. Many workers dream of retiring to a favorite vacation destination, only to find that their dream retirement destination is not as charming or fun as they had hoped. Putting off retirement for a little while gives those workers plenty of time to research possible vacation destinations. It also provides plenty of time for planning, including talking with current residents of the town or city, researching home prices and rents and looking at possible part time employment or volunteer opportunities.
